of World Flutes to provide informative, fun weekend
Woburn, MA – Tuesday, October 12, 2004 — GBFA, a nonprofit organization devoted to
supporting the greater Boston flute community, today announced that their 11th
Annual Flute Fair will be A Celebration
of World Flutes. The fair, to be held at the Best Western Royal Plaza Hotel
in
The organization’s new
president, Elizabeth Watson, explained that this year’s fair will feature Paul
Edmund-Davies, shakuhachi flute, Klezmer flute, Irish flute, Native American
flute, Brazilian flute (with Fernando Brandao performing), electronic flute
inventions, and more.
Watson said this was “shaping
up to be a wonderful weekend with plenty to interest flutists of all levels.”
Edmund-Davies will discuss “The Simple and Logical Approach to Playing Flute,”
and there will be
presentations in a wide variety of topics relating to the flute and flute
playing throughout many cultures and times.
The fair, supported in part
by the organization’s corporate and individual members, will also offer a brunch
with BSO’s Elizabeth Rowe, a performance by the group EdgeWise, and Mass.
Districts and NH all-state Master Classes.
